How to Boost Your Energy

Hi everyone! It is such a blessing to connect with you again on this beautiful Monday. I hope your heart is full and your spirit is ready for the week ahead.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the nature of strength. As many of you know from my own journey living with Multiple Sclerosis, there are days when the simple act of getting out of bed feels like climbing a mountain. I’ve had those mornings where the fatigue feels like a heavy blanket that just won't lift, no matter how much coffee I drink or how much I pray for a spark. Have you ever felt like your internal battery is stuck at five percent, even after a full night’s rest?

It’s in those moments of vulnerability that I remind myself of Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Renewing that strength isn't just a spiritual act, it's a physical and mental one, too. Today, I want to share some vital, heartfelt tips to help you manage your energy so you can continue to be the courageous warrior God called you to be.

1. Budget Your Energy Like a Treasure

We often think of energy as something that should just be there, but when you are managing MS, energy is a precious currency. We must be wise stewards of what we have.

Our founder, Lisa Ray, sharing her journey of resilience and hope.

I’ve learned to "budget" my day. I tackle my most important tasks, whether that’s advocacy work or household needs, during my peak hours, which are usually in the morning. Ask yourself: What is the one thing I must accomplish today to feel fulfilled? Focus your light there first. Give yourself permission to delegate the rest or save it for another time. Remember, saying "no" to a minor task is saying "yes" to your health and peace.

2. The Power of Movement: MS Exercise and Wellness

It might seem counterintuitive to move when you feel exhausted, but managing MS through exercise is one of the most effective ways to reclaim your vitality. Movement generates energy!

You don’t have to run a marathon to be a warrior. In our community, we believe in the power of collective movement, no matter how small. Consider these gentle, unforgettable shifts in your routine:

  • Walking: A short, brisk walk in a cool environment can clear your mind and wake up your muscles.

  • Yoga and Stretching: These are vital for maintaining flexibility and reducing the stiffness that often contributes to fatigue.

  • Water Exercise: If you struggle with heat, a cool pool is a sanctuary for MS exercise and wellness.

Always listen to your body. We aren't looking for perfection; we are looking for progress. Take a mental health day if you need it, but try to find a way to move your temple every single day.

3. Nourish Your Temple

What we put into our bodies is the fuel for our fire. When we are living with Multiple Sclerosis, our nutritional choices can either dampen our spirits or ignite our energy. Focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods, leafy greens, lean proteins, and plenty of water.

Dehydration is a silent energy thief! Make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day to keep your systems running smoothly. Think of each glass of water as a refreshing rain for your internal garden.

4. Seek Quiet Time and Spiritual Rest

We cannot give from an empty cup. Sometimes, the best way to boost your energy is to actually stop and see quiet time.

A serene space for reflection, prayer, and restoration.

True rest is more than just sleep; it’s about restoring your soul. I find that spending time in prayer and meditation helps reset my nervous system and calms the "noise" of daily life. Are you taking time to sit in the stillness and listen for that still, small voice?

Whether it's a ten-minute power nap or a dedicated hour of scripture reading, these moments of peace are where our deepest healing begins. For more insights on finding peace, feel free to browse our blog for shared stories of resilience.

We Are a Movement

I want you to remember that you are never walking this path alone. You are part of a vibrant, MS warrior inspiration movement. We lean on each other, we pray for each other, and we lift each other up when the road gets steep.

A radiant MS survivor embodying the joy and strength of our community.

If you are looking for more MS community resources, please visit our Resources page. We are here to provide the support and advocacy you need to thrive, not just survive.

Be well, stay hopeful, and keep pushing forward. We are journeying together toward a future filled with light and healing. I am so proud of the strength you show every single day.

Let’s keep walking in faith and moving in hope!

With love and light,
